New Year …New Home

For Bosko.

He’s never had a shed to shelter in before and when he came here he wouldn’t go near it preferring to stand under the trees and get wet. We changed the flooring to gravel with wood chips and straw on top and that seems to have done the trick.

This morning it had been raining all night and he was a dry as a bone waiting for his bucket of hay.

It’s not exactly Buckingham Palace but now he’s going in we can make some improvements.

The Santa Hat

We bought a Santa hat for Bosko but it wouldn’t go over his ears so Jake decide he was going to have it.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Ready for Christmas

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The Christmas tree was abandoned this year due to the ongoing canine wrestling competition and the fact Jake eats and demolishes EVERYTHING! he can reach even by climbing on the furniture, so improvised with some pine tree branches and fairy lights.

Bosko is wearing his Christmas antlers hoping Santa will choose him rather than Rudolph.

November

Mike’s recovered well from his broken ankle and is up and walking again with the help of a frame.

Jake’s now recovered from his broken leg and is now walking normally again after just four weeks. He’s discovered the farmers quad bike is a great thing to chase round the fields and is far more interesting than cows.

and Jess is also on the mend after being spayed last Thursday.

October

October was a month to forget this year, disaster followed disaster and everyone we spoke to seemed to be having the same bad luck. Injuries, illness and accidents seemed to befall everyone we know.

On the 5th Mike fell and broke his ankle in two places feeding Bosko in the rain, he spent two days in Sligo hospital and came home after an op to fit it all back together with pins and plates. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

So it was a wheelchair and walking frame and when the stitches came out a rigid fiberglass cast was put on instead of the bandage. The cast was a nightmare causing his leg to swell and bruise even more so it was back to the hospital and a moon boot was put on… at least we could get it off now and again to let it breath.

Then to end the month Jake broke his leg colliding with Jess in the garden running round in the dark.

It was off to the vets the next morning and an xray showed a break just over the knee joint. No op though thank goodness as he is young enough to heal without surgery, just two weeks cage rest till the next xray ….. Cage rest!…..what a joke… border collies don’t do cage rest….. so he hops round happily in the garden on three legs but no walks.

Mist & Cobwebs

The weather this week has been wonderful. Early morning mists hang on the millions of cobwebs that drape every bush and blade of grass.

The gang turned up today

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It’s not often we see this guy but he’s back with the gang today.

One mother and baby were at the top end of the field the other mother and baby were down on the bank at the bottom. The baby’s have lost the spotted coat and are now all red like their parents.
